Maytown's 250th Celebration

It was scripted from above. The weather--perfect. The programs and activities--specatular. The response from the townspeople--fabulous. Maytown celebrated it's 250th anniversary with style.

One of the vendors on the square rented period costumes. Anna took the opportunity to dress up as a civil war widow. Here she is posing with Aurora:

On Saturday the good folks from Canine Compaions (my agility class classmates) came and put on an agility and flyball demo for the Maytown Youth Organization baseball and softball teams. It was a huge success. Here's a photo of Cosi and me during the 18 weave pole race:

The MC for the entire event was Jack. I was so proud of him. He really came through for his town. Here's my Jack:

Gearing Up

The BIG weekend is approaching. Mayfest 2010 begins tomorrow. Our town is turning 250 years old on May 1. The committees have been planning this event for two years. My husband is on one of the steering committees, and the phone has been ringing non-stop for the past three months. Lots of details to work out; lots of coordination between committees.

Our Canadian friends (two couples) will be staying with us for the event that runs Thursday through Sunday. On Saturday there are a variety of events for children in the park. Coleen's group will put on an agility and flyball demo. Cosi and I will run in the agility demo.

All we need now is to have Mother Nature cooperate. Come on, Ol' Girl. Give us a good weekend.
